About

I am an artist from Lafayette, Louisiana.  I studied Visual Art and Urban Studies at Brown University. During my time there, my interests in the earth’s natural splendor, the creative human environment, and eastern philosophies of life cross pollinated and provided the basis for the work I do today, both within the studio and outside. Since 2013, I’ve lived and worked in New Orleans – a continuous source of inspiration. My job is at an architecture and planning firm, Concordia, where I contribute as a designer and community engagement planner on projects ranging from single family homes to regional planning projects. In all of my work, the central problem I must solve is how to strike the most practical and aesthetically appropriate relationship between people and their environment.

In my artwork, this problem manifests itself through my emphasis on what is lacking in most of our lives: nature, and all of its improbable elegance. I hope my paintings provide both a salve and a reminder of the unmet need that most of us city- or suburban-dwellers unconsciously long for; a hint of the feeling of being in some foreign forest, unpolluted by traffic noise and human voices.  We all spend a great deal of energy and stress bringing order to our environment. It’s good to remember that we may not need to take ourselves so seriously. If we left it all alone, the wiggly natural world, despite its lack of parallel lines or rational control, would carry on flawlessly.

I am represented by Where Y’art, who shows my work in New Orleans and hosts an online store where I connect with people across the country.  You can see what I have available here: View Store at Where Y’art.

From fall of 2018 through spring of 2021, my wife will be attending an MFA program in Minneapolis and we will spend school semesters up there. During the time that we are gone, we are hosting guests at our beautiful New Orleans home filled with many of my favorite art pieces. If you’re interested in seeing my art in person, and need an excuse to visit New Orleans, this is the best way to do it! Visit here.
